Since its beginnings, Outremer Catamarans have been renowned for building light, seaworthy, and reliable multihulls that combine exhilarating performance with simplicity and safety. Designed for sailors who dream of fast passages and bluewater horizons, Outremers are at once responsive at the helm and reassuring at sea, making them some of the most respected bluewater cruising catamarans in the world.
The Outremer 40/43 was created under the vision of Gérard Danson, one of the founders of Outremer and a designer celebrated for his philosophy: light boats, built by sailors for sailors, capable of taking families safely and swiftly across oceans. Revered for its balance between performance and ocean-going capability, the 40/43 is often seen as the perfect way to enter the Outremer world. With her sleek 13.35m lines and 6.8m beam, she offers the pure sensations of speed and precision at the tillers while retaining the comfort and security required for long voyages. Simple, efficient, and remarkably fun to sail, the 40/43 has earned its reputation as one of the most iconic performance cruising catamarans of her generation.
Carpe Diem III is one of the very last Outremer 40/43 ever built, hull number 29 out of only 30 produced, launched in 2003 at the Atelier Outremer. Over the years she has been carefully maintained by a succession of responsible owners. The most recent owners visited her regularly yet sailed her very little, ensuring her systems remained in excellent condition while keeping usage light. In 2017, both of her Volvo D1-30 engines were replaced and today show only around 650 hours. That same year, her navigation electronics, including radar, were renewed, a new tender and oven were added, and solar panels with three service batteries were installed to support life aboard. Most recently, in 2023, her galley was upgraded with a new stove. Together, these thoughtful upgrades complement her proven design and highlight the care she has consistently received throughout her life.
Inside, her bright and functional interior offers a convivial saloon, a practical galley, and comfortable cabins, well-suited for extended cruising or family adventures. On deck, she remains true to Danson’s philosophy and to the Outremer DNA: light, responsive, and thrilling under sail, while secure and straightforward to manage.
Now offered for sale directly by the yard, Carpe Diem III is available in Port Camargue, France, at a price of 185,000 € EU tax paid. For those searching for a rare opportunity to acquire an Outremer 40/43 catamaran for sale, combining pedigree, performance, and heritage, she is ready to continue her story across the seas.
