The story of Grand Large Yachting rallies has been initiated by the famous sailor Jimmy Cornell. It began with the World Odyssey 500 (2021–2024), a three-year circumnavigation commemorating the 500th anniversary of the first round-the-world voyage by Magellan and El Cano.
Over 30 boats, representing 13 nationalities, departed in September 2021, covering more than 30,000 nautical miles and visiting 48 destinations.
