Buying an Outremer means deciding to set off on an adventure. Outremer Ready is the program that makes this journey possible, with complete peace of mind. From the start of the project right through to your return from your voyage, we’ll support you in taking control of your boat, developing your skills and setting sail with complete confidence.

There’s a real gap between the desire to set sail and that first offshore mile. You need to learn how to adjust the boat, experience different situations and know how to make the right decisions. A boat on its own – even an excellent one – cannot bridge that gap. Outremer Ready is our solution: genuine, bespoke support designed to bridge the gap between the desire to set sail and that first offshore mile.

This training course is divided into four stages:

01. Start – Understanding, learning, putting together your crew

02. Progress – Mastering your boat in real-life situations, sailing

03. Sail – Setting sail with full support, heading out to sea

04. Return – Making the most of your boat, preparing for the next step

The Ladies Only program, designed exclusively for women

We want everyone to feel as involved as they wish in this life project. That is why we launched the ‘Ladies Only’ program in 2018. The full Outremer Ready program includes courses, sailing experiences, webinars and discussion sessions dedicated to women.

In this safe and supportive environment, women can learn and build their confidence at their own pace. After all, the more you know and the more experiences you have for yourself, the more confident you’ll feel. Of course, this isn’t about excluding anyone, but about offering everyone a rewarding sailing experience.

The initial discussion about your sailing project often begins at a boat show. You’ll have the chance to visit an Outremer, explore its living spaces and ask our team all your questions in person. It’s the easiest way to find out more about the range of possibilities available at Outremer. A first step towards a big project.

During the webinars and seminars we organise, Outremer owners share their preparations, the decisions they had to make and the surprises they encountered: what equipment they found they were missing, which adjustments took time, and how the crew organised themselves. On the last Friday of every month, our team opens the doors to our shipyard and gives you an insight into the design of our boats, from the initial layout right through to launch. A comprehensive and detailed review of your project

Any questions? You’re bound to have hundreds of them. During this specific review, we’ll take a look at your technical skills and your sailing experience. The aim? To clear up any doubts you may have and to draw up a realistic plan tailored to your project. You have an idea in mind, and we’re here to explore every possible angle in order to support you right through to the finish line.

Step 02. Progress

Gain practical experience in real-life situations covering every aspect: technique, navigation and long-distance cruising.

One week, twice a year, in La Grande-Motte (France)

Whether on land or at sea, Outremer Week offers you the chance to take part in a wide range of technical modules. Over the course of a week, you’ll combine technical training, sailing sessions, guest speakers and talks on long-distance cruising. The ultimate goal? To leave feeling confident and well-prepared to set sail for new horizons.

Training modules on key topics for long-distance cruising

Engines, energy management, on-board electronics, offshore weather, and on-board medicine. Each module provides you with the guidance you need to make better-informed decisions about your equipment and to deal independently with unforeseen technical issues. A wide range of training courses is available to help you prepare before setting off on your journey.

Supervised sailing, ahead of your boat’s delivery

You will steer and make decisions in real-life situations, under the guidance of an Outremer skipper. Each session helps you develop reflexes: entering the harbour, night-time departures, managing the sails in heavy weather, and emergency tacking. You’ll get into a routine even before delivery, allowing you to develop your first automatic responses at sea. Mistakes become shared learning experiences, and you’ll see clear progress within a few days.

The community’s annual gathering

Every spring, dozens of Outremer boats gather for a friendly regatta, with owners, families and friends on board. It’s an opportunity to continue developing one’s skills alongside experienced sailors, Outremer skippers and renowned sailors. The Outremer Cup is, above all, a chance for owners to get together – owners who share far more than just a boat: a shared passion for sailing, for learning, for exchanging experiences and for enjoying the sea together.

Connecting crew members and owners

The Grand Large Yachting Crew Seeker platform connects owners with potential crew members. Post your project, specify your criteria, and get in touch with selected candidates. Find the crew member who will share in your project easily, all in one place. It’s an excellent way to test the Outremer model you’ve chosen, even before you take delivery of it.

Step 03. Sail

Handling the boat, assisted departure, first voyages. With your crew, your set-up and your own points of reference.

Handover of the boat and final check-up

The handover of the keys is the moment when you truly take possession of what you have purchased, when the project you have built becomes a reality. Every system is checked, every setting explained. You set off after two weeks spent getting to know your boat, full of confidence and ready to set sail.

An Outremer skipper to guide you on your boat

To ensure your project is a success with complete peace of mind, and before setting off on your own, spending a few days on board with a certified skipper is undoubtedly one of the best things you can do. Together, you’ll take the time to get to know your boat and fine-tune the settings so that they perfectly match your expectations. You’ll save valuable time for the future. Whether it’s for a day or several weeks, you set the pace, while our skipper provides advice and expertise.

Discovering life at sea in the Mediterranean

Your first few nautical miles as part of a fleet, at a gradual pace, with constant support. You’ll learn about managing watch shifts, long-term life on board and daily maintenance. The transition to independence is smooth. You’ll grow alongside the community and everyone who shares your dream. Three weeks to practise and fully adapt to life at sea.
