The European Yacht of the Year ceremony has come and gone, and it was with great pleasure that the Outremer team received the European Yacht Of The Year 2024 award in the Multihull category for its latest model, the Outremer 52. The announcement was made on 20 January 2024 during Flagship Night, the first evening of the Düsseldorf Boat Show. Voted by a jury representing the twelve leading European magazines, the European Yacht of the Year titles are considered to be the ‘Oscars of the sailing world’.
The Outremer 52 was one of 21 yachts nominated for the European Yacht of the Year Award 2024. The latest addition to the Outremer range convinced the jury, reinforcing its status as the new standard in blue water cruising.
“Thank you to the members of the jury for choosing the Outremer 52. It’s a wonderful recognition that demonstrates the strength of our in-house team in symbiosis with our historic partners. Our mission is to enable prospective sailors to realise their sailing dreams; the Jury’s feedback on the pleasure provided by the Outremer 52 is the finest reward for our work. After the titles successively obtained for the Outremer 49, 5X, 4X and 55, this prize reinforces Outremer’s status as the benchmark for ocean-going catamarans”, declared Xavier Desmarest, Co-founder of Grand Large Yachting, Outremer’s parent company, when presenting the prize.
The Outremer 52 combines the distinctive features of the legendary 51 – of which it is the successor – with the comfort and modernity of the 55. The result is a boat that stands out as a true benchmark in the world of sailing. The involvement of big names in the industry, such as naval architects VPLP and French designers Patrick Le Quément and Darnet Design, has contributed to the development of an aesthetic, functional and well thought-out design.
This trophy is the fifth won by the Outremer shipyard in five participations, after the Outremer 49 in 2009, the Outremer 5X in 2012, the Outremer 4X in 2017 and the Outremer 55 in 2022.
