This is the first moment the boat truly becomes visible. Its geometry and its proportions come out of the mould and take their final shape. A structural piece, and one of those that most clearly set the 57 apart from the Outremer 55.

The deck, where the 57 sets itself apart from the 55

On a catamaran, the deck is far more than a surface. It is the piece that carries life aboard and the helm station. On the 57, it is also the piece that holds the choices that make the difference with the 55.

This is where the MultiMode cockpit™ lives, the outdoor space that reshapes itself through the day: meals facing the sea, lounging, sailing toward the helm. This is where the PivotHelm™ sits, the wheel that pivots between two positions, outside for tight maneuvers and coming alongside, inside the cockpit for the passage and the night watch. And this is where the Plein Ciel skyroof™ opens up, the glazed surfaces in the coachroof that bring light and sky in from above.

Where the cockpit of the 55 is open, that of the 57 is shelter, never enclosure. The deck is precisely the piece that makes all of this real.

A stage that makes the boat readable

Until demoulding, a boat is read mostly on the drawing board. Once the deck comes out of the mould, the scale, the volumes and the lines become tangible. You can see where you will move, where you will steer, where you will live. It is a milestone as technical as it is anticipated: the first time Outremer 57 hull number one truly looks like a 57.

This deck is part of an experience few yards can claim: more than 40 years of history, 450 catamarans built, over 10 million nautical miles sailed by the fleet, and 100% French manufacturing within Grand Large Yachting.

Following the build of hull number one

The deck demoulding opens a series of stages we will document here, through to the launch and the official presentation of the model. The photo report below offers a first look at the boat as it takes shape.

Sailing true is what makes the sea familiar. The Outremer 57 is not a boat to be crossed, it is a boat to be lived in.

In early August, a milestone was reached in the construction of Outremer 57 hull number one: the deck demoulding.
