{"id":2809,"date":"2021-04-21T13:00:08","date_gmt":"2021-04-21T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/catamaran-outremer.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2809"},"modified":"2022-03-09T15:59:10","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T15:59:10","slug":"outremer-4x-and-49-first-production-boats-at-la-route-du-rhum-2018","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/catamaran-outremer.com\/en\/news\/outremer-4x-and-49-first-production-boats-at-la-route-du-rhum-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Outremer 4X and 49, first production boats at La Route du Rhum 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"container mb-9\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/catamaran-outremer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/YZ_20181104_1750.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">   \n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"section-textcolumns\">\n  <div class=\"container\">\n    <div class=\"mb-6\"><h4>Route du Rhum\u00a0: Outremer 4X and 49\u2019, first production boats to cross the finish line !<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This edition which is just finishing is just confirming it\u00a0: The Route du Rhum is definitly the Everest mount of singlehanded offshore races\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>Not less than 5 major storms rushes through the race course, with gusts well above 65 knots and huge waves.<\/p>\n<p>Among 123 entries the 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of November, one third gave up, and another one sought shelter to avoid the worst of the storms !<\/p>\n<p>The three Outremer entries, amongst 21 boats in \u201cMulti Rhum\u201d category, fought bravely against the weather, keep on racing in conditions you would not expect for a cruising catamaran\u2026 but the 5X No Limit who had to retire, after a collision with some submerged obstacle.<\/p>\n<p>With these tough conditions, Jean-Pierre Balm\u00e8s managed to get even to better performing racing machines, staying ahead the yellow trimaran of former winner Lo\u00efck Peyron, until the very last few miles before the finish lines\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>Lo\u00efck being a strong help has the sponsor of the 4X, what better tribute than leaving this fourth rank to Lo\u00efck ?<\/p>\n<p>Eric Gamin on his faithful 49\u2019 Liladhoc, for his first real race, had been very much exposed to the worst ! He tore and stitched back all of his sails during the first storms. Three days before arrival, it\u2019s his Code D which gave up.
